The Vernacare Vortex Air Plus Hospital Macerator is designed for efficient disposal of single-use medical pulp products and human waste in healthcare environments. Eco-Adaptive Technology™ intelligently adjusts water and energy requirements according to the contents of each cycle, helping reduce unnecessary resource use.

Combining touchless operation, smart sensors and a digital display, the Vortex Air Plus provides an efficient waste disposal solution for hospitals and other clinical facilities.

This package includes installation, commissioning and delivery.

Eco-Adaptive Technology™

The Vortex Air Plus uses intelligent real-time monitoring to assess each load and determine the resources required for that specific cycle.

An empty machine can run a minimal 13 L cleaning cycle, while a full load automatically adjusts to a 23 L cycle. This adaptive approach helps avoid unnecessary water and energy consumption while maintaining effective operation.

Touchless operation and infection prevention

Touchless technology helps reduce the number of potentially contaminated contact points during waste disposal.

An inflatable lid seal helps prevent the aerosolisation of potentially harmful pathogens, while capacitive sensors monitor deodoriser and water tank levels.

The macerator uses cold water to process disposable pulp products, avoiding the hot-water requirements associated with traditional bedpan washing systems.

Smart monitoring and digital display

Integrated smart sensors provide accurate diagnostics to support reliable operation and maintenance.

A digital display clearly communicates the status of the current cycle and the remaining operating time, giving healthcare staff useful information at a glance.

The Vortex Air Plus provides multiple cycle options to accommodate different requirements within healthcare facilities.

Eco cycle: 16 L of water
Standard cycle: 23 L of water
Heavy cycle: 27 L of water

The macerator can process up to four disposable pulp items, providing capacity for routine clinical waste disposal.

SmartFlow™ Technology

Vernacare SmartFlow™ Technology uses a closed-drum system to ensure waste placed inside the macerator is fully broken down before being released into the wastewater system.

Once processed, 95% of the resulting pulp particles measure less than 1mm, helping them move efficiently through sewage pipework towards wastewater treatment.
