The Medical Forehead and Body Temperature Infrared Thermometer is designed to measure forehead/body temperature and surface/ object temperature. It can be used to identify persons with EBT (Elevated Body Temperature). This is often a sign of fever which is a symptom of many illnesses including the recent COVID-19 coronavirus. Persons with suspected EBT may need to undergo further virus/infection-specific medical screening. The Medical Forehead and Body Temperature Infrared Thermometer can be used to streamline medical testing and can be used alongside medical procedures to help prevent the potential spread of infection.
When set to Surface mode, the Medical Forehead and Body Temperature Infrared Thermometer has a temperature range of 0°C to 100°C; however, when set to Forehead/ Body mode, the thermometer has a temperature range of 32°C to 43°C and is able to measure skin temperatures to the following accuracies:
- 35.5°C to 42°C: ±0.2°C
- 32.0°C to 35.4°C and 42.1°C to 43°C: ±0.3°C
Measurements are displayed to a resolution of 0.1°C on the Medical Forehead and Body Temperature Infrared Thermometer’s backlit display. The user can choose to view temperatures in °C or °F.
When set to Body/ Forehead mode, the colour of the Medical Forehead and Body Temperature Infrared Thermometer's backlit display will change depending on the measured temperature:
- 32.0°C to 37.4°C = green
- 37.5°C to 37.9°C = orange
- 38.0°C to 43.0°C = red
This allows the user to quickly evaluate whether the person being screened is likely to have a fever. Please note that this feature is disabled when the Medical Forehead and Body Temperature Infrared Thermometer is set to Surface mode. The individual being screened should stand between 3cm and 5cm away from the IR thermometer.
Additionally, the Medical Forehead and Body Temperature Infrared Thermometer includes a user-settable Temperature Alarm function with an audible alert and a configurable Temperature Difference function.
