The Pharmacy Medical HECDC204 Controlled Drugs Cabinet combines two individually lockable cabinets in a stacked arrangement, providing substantial storage capacity while keeping controlled medication separated between compartments.
Designed for hospitals, pharmacies and other healthcare facilities managing larger quantities of controlled drugs, this lockable medication cabinet offers adjustable internal shelving, additional door storage and two independent locking systems. Its tall, wall-fixed design makes use of vertical space without requiring two separate wall locations.
Two individually lockable storage compartments
The HECDC204 consists of two separate cabinets designed to be installed one above the other.
Each cabinet has its own BS3621 single-point locking mechanism, allowing medication to be secured independently in the upper and lower compartments.
This arrangement is particularly useful for healthcare teams that need to separate different categories of controlled medication, organise stock between departments or maintain distinct storage areas within one vertical installation.
With two individual doors, authorised staff can access one compartment without opening the other.
Adjustable internal shelves and additional door storage
Across the complete stacked arrangement, the manufacturer's specification lists six height-adjustable internal shelves and eight fixed door shelves.
The adjustable internal shelves allow storage space to be configured for different medication container heights, including boxed medicines and bottles.
Fixed shelves within the doors provide additional positions for smaller containers, helping healthcare professionals organise frequently accessed stock without occupying the main shelving areas.
Together, these storage areas offer a practical solution for facilities requiring a larger controlled drugs cabinet with clearly separated compartments.
Independent BS3621 locking systems
Each HECDC204 cabinet is equipped with a six-pin Euro-profile cylinder lock incorporating anti-pick, anti-drill and anti-bump protection.
The key-retaining design prevents keys from being removed while the corresponding cabinet door is open.
Both compartments have separate locks, with three keys supplied per lock, giving a total of six keys.
The standard cylinders are tested to BS EN1303:2005 and carry TS007 1 Star accreditation.
A hardened steel mortise deadbolt with anti-saw protection and a 14mm bolt throw provides additional resistance against forced entry.
Reinforced steel construction
The HECDC204 is manufactured in the United Kingdom from 1.5mm thick cold-reduced mild steel.
Fully welded construction provides a robust cabinet structure, while 3mm thick steel anchor plates reinforce the wall-fixing points.
Each door incorporates a continuous steel piano hinge with welded hinge pins to prevent removal. The hinge design also helps maximise the opening aperture, making it easier to access medication stored towards the sides of the cabinet.
An anti-jemmy folded return along the hinge side provides further protection against attempts to force the doors open.
Wall-mounted design for larger medication inventories
With an overall height of approximately 1730mm and a width of 760mm, the HECDC204 is designed for healthcare environments requiring significant controlled medication storage capacity.
The two-cabinet arrangement allows storage to be distributed vertically rather than across separate wall-mounted units.
Eight 10mm x 75mm sleeve anchors are supplied for secure wall installation.
Both cabinets must be installed correctly by a competent person using appropriate fixing methods and a suitable supporting wall.
Controlled drug storage standards
The HECDC204 conforms to BS2881:1989 Security Level One, the specification for cupboards used to store medicines in healthcare premises.
The manufacturer also states that it meets the requirements of the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 1973.
Its combination of independent locking compartments, steel construction and reinforced fixing points supports secure controlled drug storage in professional healthcare settings.
Appropriate installation, authorised access procedures and key management remain essential to maintaining secure storage.
Hinge configurations and optional security upgrades
The HECDC204 is available with right-hand or left-hand hinge configurations, allowing the cabinet doors to suit the available installation space.
An optional warning light can be selected for additional visual indication, while the manufacturer also offers an ABLOY® CLIQ electronic locking upgrade.
The standard cabinets feature a RAL 9003 White Gloss polyester powder-coated finish, providing a durable surface suitable for routine cleaning.
Please Note
The HECDC204 consists of two separate cabinets designed to be stacked vertically. Both units are delivered together on one pallet and require installation.
